Updated: Aug 22, 2023

The late David Minkler, a United States Navy veteran and retired delivery driver and

member of the Seattle Local 9 Bakers and Confectioners Union and resident of Montesano,

Washington, has bequeathed his entire estate, a total donation of $126,290, to North Beach

PAWS, which will be used to help construct the shelter’s new dog facility.

“Mr. Minkler’s thoughtfulness and generosity are very much appreciated, and his kindness will enable us to continue our mission and help so many more animals in the future,” said Lorna Valdez, President of North Beach PAWS. “His support means the world to us.”

Mr. Minkler, known as “Navy Dave” at the Montesano Moose Lodge, was a well-known benefactor to stray animals and believed in North Beach PAWS’ mission.

The planned 3,700-square-foot dog shelter with 20 kennels will provide excellent housing relief for dogs and help alleviate community need and demand. The new shelter will include the latest in kennel technology and numerous amenities for the dogs and volunteer staff.
