North Beach PAWS conducted a low-cost dog and cat vaccination clinic at the John M. Smith
Aquaculture Center at Grays Harbor College on August 5, 2023. Nearly 200 animals were
vaccinated against a host of ailments and or microchipped.
According to North Beach PAWS Dog Shelter Manager Nanette Sparrow, the John M. Smith
Aquaculture Center was an excellent venue for the event.
"The event was a great success. All of the animals were well behaved, and the line flowed quickly. The venue worked out really well, having a separate room for the cats was great,” Sparrow said. “We had several people take the bus to the location which was a short walk from the bus stop.”
Sparrow added that microchipping was more popular than anticipated and said that an additional microchip station will be added for the next event.
“We did more microchips than expected and next time we'll have two stations for that instead of one,” Sparrow said. “That was really the only bottleneck for the dogs.”
In all, 150 rabies and 179 disease vaccinations, and 72 microchips were administered to a
combination of 192 dogs and cats.
The event featured raffles with prizes provided by local businesses such as Ghost Town Tattoo, Quick Lube, Cascade Pizza, Breakwater Seafood, Fishing Hole, Wynooche Meats & Deli, Michael’s Meats, Danny’s Automotive, Westside Pizza, Dennis & CO, Elma, Satsop Nursery, Honda of Grays Harbor, Selmers Home Furnishings, Tractor Supply, Whitney Automotive, and PetSense.
North Beach PAWS will conduct their next dog and cat vaccination clinic in Ocean Shores at the Ocean Shores Lions Club Saturday, September 9, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
No appointments necessary or accepted, the event is first come, first served. Once again, vaccinations and microchips are $20 each. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. If you dog is unruly or unfriendly, please leave it in the car while you sign in. Our vets are happy to see your dog at the car.
