Sage and her siblings (about three months old) and their mother were recently left in an upside-down cage at a church. Sage had trouble walking, and our veterinarian determined that she had probably been stepped on. This resulted in an injury to her spine, a dislocated pelvis, and a badly broken femur.
Sage is currently in a safe space in a foster home while she gains weight (she only weighs two pounds) and her spine and pelvis heal as much as possible. In about a month, a determination will be made regarding how to deal with her broken leg, but we have been told it will probably need to be amputated.
Sage is otherwise doing well, has a wonderful attitude, and is extremely affectionate. After she has surgery and recovers, Sage will be available for some lucky person to adopt.
This will be an expensive surgery and we hope for donations to offset the cost. Anything we receive beyond the amount needed for her care will go to our special medical fund, which is used to help cats and dogs that need extraordinary medical care.
North Beach PAWS and Sage thank you.
